Dirty Pop

This dance was choreographed & taught by Wendy Teh (Penang)at the recent Jubilation 2008 event down in Johor Baru (refer to previous blog on Scott Blevins' workshop).

It's an easy funky number and quite enjoyable to dance. Music's nice too. Will definitely be teaching this right after my party's over.

A Date With Scott

Although for the past 3 days I've been busy battling a bout of flu and high fever, this weekend will see me in Johor Baru for a date with Scott Blevins. Well, not a personal date of course. I'll be there, like so many others from across Malaysia and Singapore, for his workshop on Saturday and Sunday.

The 'battle' has left me physically weakened and I'm not sure if I'll have sufficient energy to hit the dancefloor but that's not going to stop me from attending. Not especially after having forked out several hundred ringgit for registration and accommodation. Nope! I'm dragging myself there no matter what ;-)

Hopefully will have enough energy after the workshop to post about the event. Keep a lookout anyways ya.

Cheeky Cha

I was notified by a linedance friend that Cheeky Cha videos can still be found on Youtube. A quick check showed that 2 had been uploaded between 6 to 10 hours ago (as of posting time).

I wonder if Youtube will detect them and remove them also. I hope not though. These videos will be very useful for those who would like to learn the dance but have not had the chance to view the previously posted videos.

I am sure more will surface as time progresses. You can't keep a good dance down ;-)

Weekly Fool

These ladies really work fast! :-D

Taught them this dance on August 31st, revised it on the 2nd of September and here it is already up on Youtube.

Well done ladies! I especially like the way you did the 'a-go-go' part. Or as Judy McDonald (the choreographer) calls it: the 'jerks'.

Copyright Infringement - Cheeky Cha

A quick check on Youtube will show you that all Cheeky Cha line dance videos have been taken off. You can search but you won't find the dance choreographed by Kate Sala & Robbie McGowan.

Apparently, a third party infringement complaint had been lodged with Youtube by the owners of the song and Youtube is required by law to comply.

I guess the music/song owners don't know a compliment when they see one...that line dancers around the world (and there are millions of them) think the music is good enough to dance to. Too bad.

But...a copyright is a copyright I guess and there's no messing with it.
